I'm sure if you Google arcade, something might come up?
That's not what this thread is about. I'm asking if Arcades still exist where you live.
I'm assuming they don't anymore, I personally couldn't tell you where one exist near me today but 20yrs ago?
My mall had one on each floor, it was called Time-Out Arcade and I would go into it first... and then check the mall out afterwards.

Once Mall Arcades began to disappear, there was still an actual local Arcade in a shopping center that I would hit up if I was in the area. But that place is gone now.

My son is an avid gamer and I know he would lose his shyt if he experienced a real arcade. I guess one day while on vacation somewhere he'll get to experience one.
How about you?

There's at least two or three of these around here. I've only been to like one of them once. It was cool for what it was, but had mostly old ass games. I think the newest Tekken they had was Tekken 3 or some shyt.

And then there's what the FGC calls "Locals", which is where fighting game players gather to play fighters in person. At these places, which there's also about 2-4 of them in/around the city, there's a least a near half dozen none fighting game cabinets that they also typically house as well. I used to go at least about monthly, but after covid, I've barely went much since. Last I went was like 2 years ago.

What's a Barcade exactly?

I seen those bars and some restaurants that have the little trivia Arcades and some have lil bullshyt cellphone type games on them.
But you talking about something different, yah?
Here's the main one here that I actually visited.

Google Pics of Cobra since website is missing them.

Most barcades have a fairly spread out amount of true arcade games. Unlike places like Main Event or Dave & Buster's, which we also have multiple amounts of them here. I don't really consider them arcades, at least not in the true, old school sense.

I remember the Time Out arcades around the way. Aren't you from DC/PG County, Maryland? Are you talking about that one arcade that was in Marlow Heights? I used to practically live there as a teen.

I was thinking about Springfield Mall in Va, but I been to the one you talking about.
I used to go to Marlow Heights Mall for shoes because they always had colors you couldn't find elsewhere in the area

Dave and Busters the closest thing but doesn't restore the feeling since it's mainly those ticket winning games and not the walls of fighting games, side scrollers, pinball machines, and light gun games we grew up with.

You're in VA. If you ever end up in Norfolk check out Circuit Social. It's not worth the trip on it's own at all but if you were already out here then it's worth the pop in.

we got a few barcades here as well. also, there's a regular arcade that's like $10 to play all day. they don't sell alcohol, and it's in the suburbs.
The ones around here mostly have old school shyt like TMNT, Simpsons, and a gang of pinball tables.
