As opposed to viewing systems as a competition between interests group to gain as many resources and power for their own in-group? This is not an attack on us imo as just acknowledging a reality and current blind spot for black folks that makes us susceptible to exploitation. I want to clarify that in case some people felt that way
This was inspired by some of the things said by those Hispanic city council members. Less so the blatantly racist shyt as more the pure naked way these folks operated to advance Hispanic interests over everyone else. I feel their perspective on how to operate in the world is more common sadly.
I believe the world black people value and put emphasis on is a world we should all want to live in but it runs into obvious problems when others don't buy into it. A lot of our view of the world and how it SHOULD operate is molded by our view of civil rights history and the more "worldly" view of "an injustice anywhere, is injustice everywhere". As a result I think a lot of black folks who have the best intentions and motivations struggle to operate in a framework where pure power politics thinking is the rule.
Meanwhile, other interest groups only view injustice as a problem when they are impacted and in fact view injustice as a virtue when it can benefit their group and if another group needs to suffer for that ends, so be it. A world where pursuit of power and influence is the top virtue, not justice and fairness.
Again, I don't think black folks are "wrong" in their perspective of the world and in fact, they have the best view of what a great world would look like. But it's a blind spot when dealing with the current world. Folks are waking up, but there are still a lot of folks out there who still have trouble understanding "you're all you got".
