No.
And the reason why, is because most don't respect themselves or even the culture. The listeners don't respect them either because they don't carry themselves in a way that demands it. My biggest issue with Hip Hop is, with all these "influential" cats, no one is a leader. All we've seen is this huge cry for acceptance, even from the artists that are "on top".
All that power, and the majority of the ones that we see everyday all day, would rather push ignorance, than the importance of respecting what we've built in this culture. We say Hip Hop is a community, but none of us do anything to demand respect for our own shyt. We don't buy our own albums, we refuse to support our own artists, or pay for tickets to tours. We see very fukked up shyt happen to artists in our genre and we applaud it, then turn around and see these same artists carryin' on in the same ignorant fashion that probably got them in that position in the first place.
I don't think anyone deserves shyt. You have to show respect before you can get it. And I don't think we see a lot of respect being shown at all these days. We've kinda made our own culture and music disposable. I wouldn't respect that at all if I were an outsider lookin' in.
