I'm a little :mindblown: right now. I just got a call from a collection agency telling me I have 3 outstanding tickets from a city I haven't lived in in years. They are:

  • Drinking underage :ehh:
  • Drunk in public :shaq2:
  • Vandalizing a campsite :krs:
I don't really remember any of these but the underage one tells me they are at least 12 years old and possibly up to 15.

Do I really have to pay these?

How the fukk did they track me down?

This is Canada btw.

I don't know. I'm American. Laws are different here.

In the US, when you are arrested, they get your personal information. Name, date of birth, SSN, driver's license number, et cetera. If you don't pay up, they can use this identifying information to track you down. If you move, your credit may be checked while applying for an apartment or to get utility services. Or your driver's license may have been updated and they can track you down at that address. You may have paid taxes or filed an income tax return and you were located at your most recent address you put down on your tax return form.
