GOD
The clients in the shelter are super rude and entitled at times, you wouldn't believe it. You'll hear them bytching about having to eat chicken 2 days in a row, or scoffing at the quality of the food in general, and the linens and clothes we give them. But many are mentally ill and have addiction problems

Again most of those people have mental health issues, and they are scorned veterans who are not given the benefits they thought they would receive, they became bitter.

They're usually dependent on alcohol or drugs and spend all their money on their addictions while the state looks after them
This, shelters won't take them in if they are abusing drugs or have certain felonies. Even homeless "Vets" can go into any VA Hospital and will receive health care, a place to stay, help with getting to appts but they have to abide by rules. I think the most they do is collect disability checks for whatever illness and thats it. Thats why you see some with cell phones and stuff.

I Bet.

I've given so many homeless people , not just 1 dollar, but 5-50 dollars... and the vast majority - Dont really seem grateful. I try to brighten up their day... but it doesn't seem to help.

My Girl has poor , but not homeless clients.. She works at a non profit that helps hood families with home repairs, health stuff, etc -- each family gets thousands of dollars worth of help --- Most of her Clients are rude as fukk. the men talk crazy. The women are rude. The people are impatient. And They refer to things as .... My this and My that and 'when you gonna do this' (when they haven't paid for shyt, all they did was fill out a paper)

my Other home girl - works with sex abuse victims... these young girls... Actually want to go back to the fathers and uncles that raped them. Some even said they 'miss' it. This is the only group i give a pass to because maybe they were mentally damaged over years. with Stockholm syndrome.

Is that volunteer work or an actual job?

Yup, I know exactly what you're talking about. And w/ the stockholm syndrome, that's common. The defense mechanisms ppl build up to survive a horrific situation literally changes your brain, and it doesn't change back when out of the situation, so that dysfunction is normalized over time. It's not unheard of that these girls/women often do "miss" the abuse. It's very sad

Yo fam if you have never visited a homeless shelter you need to. It will spark the fire under your ass to work hard and stay away from jail

Straight up I saw the pants of choice were sweatpants because these mufukkas would stuff everything they could find into their pants for storage

I remember there use to be this one homeless person that would consistently be in my hood asking for change. One day I gave him 30 dollas because I had just re-upped on a paycheck that week. After that day I never saw him again and rumors in the hood were that he overdosed.

From that day on I stopped giving homeless people money
