Nowadays Chi-Raq is well known as the most dangerous city in hip hop(even tho going by stats its not but whatever)

They made a new gangster rap movement
Their slang and style is getting stolen
people and rappers are "scared" to go their

Is Chicago today how people saw LA in the early 90s?

No, LA/Compton were rebellious but you could get an understanding for why they were upset and I feel like intentions of changing policy's and the treatment of black men were made known, while as far as Chicago goes it sounds like it's just senseless violence

So none of the violence in LA was senseless?

Well said. The CPT articulated what was happening while Chicago just seems to glorify it. Compton's ,Most Wanted, NWA and solo Cube spoke on the police brutality long before Rodney King.

Also, it can be compared violence wise but not music wise as far as impact. BrothaZay you in the Dallas area right? Picture cats wearing Compton hats in the suburbs of Garland when Born and Raised in Compton dropped. They left their mark in an undeniable way to the point where interscope is still following the formula first with Game and then Kendrick.

In all honesty, you could say no. Remember they had the Watts riots, and unfairness as far as equality goes. In Chicago there's poverty, but there's opportunity. Back then there was opportunity but not as much which is why LA had that huge culture boom that intertwined dance & music & graffiti.

Southside Chicago
Chicago was grimier in the 90s, that is the peak of Chicago gangbanging and drugs. I think the young kids out here now are punks. But the rappers back in the 90s weren't glorifying it even though banging was harder then and dudes made more money. Twista, Psychodrama, Crucial Conflict, Triple Darkness etc were spitting covert gang rhymes that only people in the CHI understood and they never dissed hoods, now it's all in the open. CHI kids born 95 and after aren't tougher than past generations, they're just dumber, louder, more flamboyant and run their mouths so much that few of them probably would have even survived the 90's and early 2000's.

Out of towners are the safest people here because they have no opposition and not involved in "hood beefs" so I don't get why OT people would be "scared" here. If someone tried to g check you while walking through a hood during a time they are looking for ops and ask "where you from", all you'd have to tell them is that you aren't from Chicago. Claiming to be from other sides of town will also protect you, I've personally seen people here from the Southside get checked and then lie about being from the Westside to get off free.
