Do street smarts matter at all in the real world?

I remember growing up we debating on having street smarts vs book smarts

The older I get its not even a debate. They're not in the same league.

Having street smarts is just about as important as knowing how to make good kool aid

Eh. Street smarts translate well into the world assuming you don't get a record. I would consider things like the power of observartion and the gift of gab are indispensable. Also being able to suss out hustlers as opposed to substantive people will keep you from taking bad opportunities or making bad decisions.

Having street smarts = knowing how to deal and handle people, arguably the best skill a person can have.

It isn’t what you know, it’s who you know. Having street smarts with some real intelligence behind it can put you in a great position...

People that are just academically smart and stupid everywhere else get ran over and taken advantage of...

That’s why I laugh at all this so and so race are “smarter” than others. Yea you can break down quantum physics but you can’t deal with and interact with all types of people, can’t find a bytch that’ll genuinely give a fukk about you outside of what you can provide, and most aren’t even happy which coincides with suicide / depression rates in people with so called “higher intelligence”.

How can a person even be considered genuinely smart if they can’t even figure out simple shyt in life like social interactions and happiness...?

When you know how to maneuver on the streets you learn how to read people and deal with them. This has helped me avoid a lot of bullshyt in the work place. A book ain’t gonna teach you that

Book smart is overrated for most jobs since they're always usually come down to the averages anyway. Some of the smartest people I know are very fukkin awkward.
