For one...if your social sphere is mostly black people you wouldn't/shouldn't have any frame of reference for what "too much" is. You would have no comparison to other races

Secondly, and more importantly, people of all races focus on celebrity too much. A majority white country just elected a celebrity as president and most of the supporters are white. If that doesn't show that white people worship celebrity then I don't know what does


In general, society as a whole focuses too much on entertainment. But with advances in technology, you can't blame them. Why read when I can watch a movie, why talk when I can text, why text when I can "talk to text" and not even have to type

As things become more convenient, the reliance on entertainment becomes more and more. We as a society as distracted for a large amount of time, so we look for entertainment.

Unfortunately I also believe that it’s also viewed as a “way out” where as other races are normally told they can be whatever as long as they get an education and work hard it seems like the black community is pushed more to sports or entertainment as the only way to “make it” in life.

@TL15 is right though, it's not just blacks its all races. It's really American culture in general. Other countries/cultures idolize celebs but i dont think it's quite like we do in this country. And its even worse for blacks because we're in a peculiar situation in American, and it prevents us from waking up and actually having real leaders like Malcolm or Martin. Instead we looking for random entertainers to be our leaders.
