Since 2019, I've joked about how all we have to save Black America is T.I. and Dr. Umar

But on some real shyt.....who do we have?

I cannot think of a single standout example

Stacey Abrams, Kaepernick, Amanda Gorman, Warnock, and Cori Bush are the only ones that come to mind. And they arent televised nearly as much as they deserve to be

I wont post Kamala, or Obama, or any other black president/vice president

No black media figure. Not even Candace Owens, bothsiders
:mjpls:

But are there any names that stand out these days?

One of the people I seen that exemplied black excellence on a world news level was the officer on Jan 6

Eugene Goodman

If it wasn't for him, Jan 6 could've been one of the darkest days in American history. Surpassing 9/11, and sadly would still be justified by cacs

This man saved lives. Democratic politicians in the Capitol would've potentially been murdered if it wasn't for him

Haven't heard anything about him since

And this is the problem. Why don't figures like this get recognized?

Why do I have to google who Rosalind Brewer is????

I think I know the answers

I'll handle this:

  1. Academia:
    • Ibram X. Kendi: An author and historian, Kendi's work on understanding and combating systemic racism has won numerous awards and garnered widespread acclaim.
    • Dr. Cornel West: A prominent and provocative democratic intellectual, West has authored numerous books and has taught at several prestigious institutions, including Harvard University and Princeton University.
  • Ta-Nehisi Coates: As an author and journalist, Coates has critically examined the cultural, social and political issues being faced by Black Americans.
  • Eddie Glaude Jr.: A professor at Princeton University, Glaude has written and spoken extensively on black history, religion, and politics.

Business:

  • Robert F. Smith: As the founder, chairman, and CEO of private equity firm Vista Equity Partners, Smith is one of the wealthiest African Americans in the U.S. He is also notable for his philanthropy, including a $34 million donation to pay off the student loans of the Morehouse College class of 201

maybe we need to use "codes" or "values" or whatever similar word semantics your want to use to guide us and stop looking for "leaders". Leaders are basically targets. They will never be perfect. They will never be good enough. It just gives people someone to aim for so they can mask those attacks on a person as "debating".

What is something that all “Black” people could rally behind that wouldn’t negatively effect another “Black” person?

If we can’t answer that, pro-black sounds nice, but politically it means nothing.

And catalyst for change is empathy talk.
