This isn't another Will Smith/Chris Rock thread. But in actuality it is :usure:. Will created one of the biggest head-scratching moments ever on live TV, and sycophants cheered him on with a standing ovation after slapping a black man. So there is still much to unpack :umad:.
What I'd like to address now is the notion we don't "protect black women" :martin:... I ain't gonna lie...this recent narrative has probably been the most irritating thing to come out of all of it. The idea that the Fresh Prince finally did something to honor these ailing and balding sisters in distress. And it appears BLACK WOMEN are the ones mostly pushing the bullshyt. My daughter's tuition would like to have a word with them :unimpressed:. And without getting further into personal anecdotes about how a lot us handle our fukking business, there are actual examples of our "protection" of black women in the public sphere. But nobody cares to signal boost any of that shyt. Literally just last week, Cory Booker, a BLACK MAN, "protected" SCJ nominee Ketanji Jackson, a BLACK WOMAN, against an onslaught of nasty attacks from white GOP senators in her SCOTUS hearings. Something far more impactful than Will Smith smacking a nikka on stage over a stupid joke at an awards show. But you didn't see anywhere near the celebration.

Why are only black men being called to challenge nikkas to duels in honor of our women like it's the 19th century :dahell: ? I don't want to @ some of the ladies I know we have here on Coli but if you happen to come across this I'd love to hear your thoughts. Do you not feel protected? Just seems like some stuff being pushed to further divide us but I welcome being corrected if I'm wrong.

Only Black women I'm protecting are the women in my family
Well, yeah, it starts there. I'm with you. Starts at the family. I take care of my daughter. And I'll always honor and respect my mother. I try to do right by any woman I'm dealing with. But, hell, it seems to have grown into this broader conversation of how we don't take care of black women in the in public sphere. As if it's our fault that a predominately white society is insensitive to their hair issues like alopecia :gucci:.

I handle mine and leave nothing but good impressions with the people I deal with. This narrative got nothing to do with me or any black man of substance

I'ver never once heard this protection talk in real life and I'd wager most of ya'll haven't either.

Will Smith, his shytty family and Chris Rock have more money than all of the coli combined, and it was a clearly staged punch, all of this is just fun and publicity for them :manny:

Well idk that it was a staged incident but their issues are on some other shyt a lot folks aren't dealing with. At the same time, the shyt I've read online is exclaiming "FINALLY...someone one stood up for black women!"...and I'm like, the hell yall talking about? How do you assign apathy to an entire group of people (black men)? Even if they just mean in the media it isn't true. Black women are being spoken up for. It just got under my skin when I know a lot of us are trying to do the right thing. But nah, I ain't about to get into a street brawl for nobody. Not over a joke. It's crazy it's supposedly the only way we can be seen as so-called protectors. And if people want to suggest black women aren't protected, then who in this society is?

A few weeks ago, I walked out of a Dollar General and while on the way to the car some random Black woman flagged me down from behind asking for a jump. I said "sure", and grabbed my cables from the trunk, pulled up next to her and got 'er running. No big deal at all.

If she had said nothing to get my attention, there's no way I would have known about her situation. I'm not Professor X.

She didn't sit in her car pouting and expecting passerbys to save her....then get on her phone to babble about how men ain't shyt.

These are occurrences that happen in real life more often, not the conjured up bs on social media.

When you stop worrying about strangers and what they think of you, your life will be exponentially better.

People are gonna assume shyt when you're a Black man regardless of what you do, let ppl feel scorned and neglected, do you.

Theres more opressing of the black woman by black men, than protecting of the black woman. We are talking about as a whole. Theres alot that comes with this as a "collective". In general and as a collective we absolutely havent, and the protecting doesnt outweigh the opression in my opinion.

There's countless of decent brothers like you. That don't want any recognition for the everyday things. I probably need to take a break from the internet haha. I just got irritated reading shyt all week about how we don't care or protect. It's stupid, I know.

Black women should be protecting themselves according to feminist/divestor logic since all genders are equal

A woman cannot always protect herself from a man who is committed to inflict violence. And instead of going back and forth, we should listen and do more to uplift and make our women feel safe. And I am not saying that every coli breh should put himself in danger, but we must be aware.
