For example. When I was in college in like 02" The dude at the front desk of our Hall, was a thin African cat, he wasn't all that cool or anything but it is what it is. So me and him was out chilling smoking cigs. and this white cat came up to him drunk/high whatever asking about Africa. asking mad disrespectful shyt like "Do yall live in huts", "Do yall travel on elephants", "Do yall have electricity" all kinds of stupid shyt. I'm chilling listening to this shyt, and African dude is clearly frustrated but still trying to answer dude, on some "I attend the same college as you" type steeze.

Every now and then I think about that shyt, and think to myself, I should have jawed that white dude for asking all those stupid ass questions. Even though, African cat was on that international student shyt and hung with mostly other Africans and the Turkish kids.

Does shyt like that make yall blood boil? am i bugging.?

I'v never seen this in my life. If somebody asks you if you ride elephants, you are rather in a 3rd grade class or the guy is joking.

you're not bugging at all and there are thousands of stories like this that people can probably share.

shyt is very annoying.

But why do i feel the way I do, I ain't African, and I'm sure most Africans wouldn't even think about it that hard, if they were saying the same things about African Americans.

I got a rwandan friend tho, dude was an exchange student at a christian all cac school and man he used to contact me all frustrated
cus they would talk so much trash behind his back both students and faculty. He made it through tho and now makes bank, when he got
lucrative job offer he heard his roommates talbout "how did he get a job".

Because you think it's disrespectful... and it is

But you have to understand that most people are ignorant. You can approach it negatively if you want but unless it's some hateful, argumentative type situation, I wouldn't/don't

I have conversations with white friends who don't have an understanding about black culture. i also have conversations with some family members who don't have understanding of asian cultures (since a lot of the women I date and friends I have are asian, some shyt they say is disrespectful to me)

but you also should be honest about your culture I believe.

one of my boys from college was from Nigeria.
there was another African dude on campus from Nigeria and my boy told me he was his cousin.

found out later that they were not really "cousins" but they were from tribes that were closely related.

i found that interesting.

It's very annoying, especially when you realize how ignorant they really are. I don't care to know whether it's their stupidity to ask me those questions or disrespect because there's no excuse to how they come at you about those topics.

i sincerely hope that you do not think that my post was meant to be condescending.

i was about 20 when i met them and the word cousin to me meant "cousin" in a very literal way.
my friend explained to me what it meant to him in a tribal manner.

i'm sure i did not explain myself well and i hope you get what i'm trying to say.
