I really don't acknowledge anyone unless you're like... in my face or I know you n u pop up out of nowhere. But I'm always polite, especially when ordering something. Pass janitors/maintenance by and give them that "good morning "

Most of the time, I walk like I'm on a mission so I don't look around me much.... just walk & look STRAIGHT towards my destination!!

On a side note: one of my biggest pet peeves in dating is a woman who shyts on the "help"...be it waiters, housekeeping, janitors, whatever...if you're unnecessary making their lives that much harder I'm dropping u quick

On topic: I don't consider anyone beneath me...outside a small minority in this country, we're all just trading time for money. You described people in the service industry and I ALWAYS acknowledge and speak to them cuz they can end up providing a better service.

People on a "lower" level? :what: People are people.

 That is one of the few things that actually irredeemable, instead of the usual complaints on this board.

You never know WHO you're being nice to/disrespecting. I've gotten lots of perks, free things, heads up on sales, use of employee discounts etc on account of simply treating people like people. I am generally friendlier and more accomdating to folks who work service/retail/maintenance because I remember what they go thru so even the ones that are "rude" per say I know it ain't personal because I go of my way to not add to anything they might be going thru that day.
