the name was unfathomably bad. they couldve just named it the “wii 2” and dodged the whole problem.

also coming off the major success of the wiis motion controls the wii u controller was just so underwhelming and dumb. they improved on the basic idea with the switch.

PS4 just needs another price cut to like $200 and support for another 3 years
and it should surpass it. Theres still people on the PS3 that haven't upgraded.

I don't think the support of the PS4 will last nearly as long as the PS2 support lasted.

There were a few major AAA titles that came out for the PS2 right at the end of its life cycle and even after the 3 dropped.

iirc Final Fantasy 12 and GOW 2 both dropped on PS2 after the PS3 had already come out. The sort of shyt will never happen again.

I’ve never witness hype for any entertainment or electronic product like the one for the PS2. The thing was everywhere, and everybody wanted one. shyt was a global cultural event.

Not even Apple has come close to it.
