But back in the day urban models were for real MODELS. Like deadass you’d probably see Naomi or Tyra at a show and they transcended modeling period.


Nowadays I feel like “urban modeling” is just havin a fat ass and being cool with showing it off


In fact, the urban models of today don’t even do shyt.

They can’t/don’t walk in shows
They’re not in any magazines
They don’t have any contracts or partnerships.

Literally all they do is take pics for IG and “host” parties. Idk brehs, I feel it use to actually be taken seriously as an avenue for models who didn’t fit the standard, and now it’s just some thick women who like twerking

"Urban" models or "Glamour" models or "Promo" models don't do runways or fashion shows. They do photoshoots and Hip Hop music videos.

This. It moved platforms, and whether folks wanna admit it or not, a lot of "urban modeling" was no better than the current instagram stuff in terms of quality.

Janky shyt meant to show off camel toes, fat asses, sleepy eyes, and quite often, tacky tattoos. Tyra and Naomi were *NOT* urban models. They were world

renowned models with legit chops that people envied. Urban models are typically one-off chicks who have enough appeal, and willingness to slut themselves up,

that folks bought mags to see em. Even then, the great majority were easily replaced. Media is much easier to consume now so there is little need to put money into

a mag when girls will do all the work and post on IG for free/shoutouts
