Above the fray.
Prodigy(RIP) of Mobb Deep wrote this in his autobiography. Do you agree with the highlighted parts?

====

The dorm I was in at Mid-State Correctional Facility held thirty inmates from all walks of life: excops, judges, DAs, school superintendents, COs, a couple of Bloods, and a multimillionaire who
ran Tyco and had an ownership stake in the Yankees and the YES (Yankees Entertainment
Station) Network—a real motley crew, mostly white men in their late forties.
My homeboy Young, one of the few inmates I was close with, was twenty-two and serving five
years for criminal enterprise. We’d laugh about how almost all the white inmates in our dorm
had to take psychiatric medication because they couldn’t deal with the reality of being in prison.
They actually believed that they didn’t belong there or should’ve received lighter sentences or
gotten away with their crimes completely—that they were too good to be serving time because
of their upbringing, academic background, or résumés. It was hilarious to sit back and analyze
them. It made me appreciate being raised on both sides of the tracks. I know what it’s like to
live in the hood with poverty and in the suburbs with money, so I’m comfortable among savage
street mentalities and highbrow squares.
I prefer a savage mind over a square one, because without money, expensive houses in safe
neighborhoods, cars, and the other materialism that gives a false sense of security in their little
fake-ass world, a square couldn’t survive in the real world where poverty and savages are king.
Just imagine for a moment, the apocalypse hits. Armageddon. Babylon (the corporate world) is
falling. No electricity, bank accounts, gas stations, no calling 911, because there’s no phone
service. Who will survive longer, if at all? Mr. and Mrs. Square-Ass Lame with their master’s
degrees and Prada suits? Or Mr. and Mrs. Savage Mentality, who are used to having nothing
and are close friends with all the neighborhood criminals?
I suggest you read the Book of Revelation if you’re confused about the answer. Having a
savage mentality doesn’t necessarily make you an evil person. It just means you have a set of
survival skills that can be used if needed
. There are a lot of people who use it in a negative
way. I used to be one of them, but while serving these three years in prison, I practiced keeping
a very peaceful state of mind. For those of you who can relate, once you master that level of
self-control, you’ll notice your life start to drastically improve. It will help you avoid a world of
unnecessary trouble. I wish I could’ve learned this on the streets at sixteen instead of in prison
at thirty-three, but my life didn’t play out that way.

Thought about that the other day. Hes right. A lot of these well off folks wouldnt be able to survive because mentally, they wouldnt be able to deal with living without luxuries or with the basic necessities or nothing.

Hate to say this but a lot of people are being humbled right now because of this shyt. Maybe this might be good in the long term for humanity. You see how strong someone really is when their lives are on the line or they really in some shyt.

who has more experience with empty bellies though?

Lets say NYC

8 million last I heard a rapper say the population

Lets say it breaks allllll the way down and the electricity never comes back on

Guess how many can live in that Geographic area just based on traditional hunter gathering...

You're talking maybe hundreds

No gangsta is gangsta enough to defeat the other 8 million people. Survival is almost just luck in these apocalypse scenaios

i listened to the whole book years ago i never remembered that chapter.

but his rightish, its always been about boulders who got the biggest boulders wins now the boulders are the bankroll.

if you cant make money now in this metropolis you wont be able to ring off on an elk and feed your own family.

...just cause you have a master's degree doesn't mean you don't have a savage or go get it attitude.

thank you...it’s not an either/or...black/white thing...there’s gonna be shades of grey

Here's what y'all are overlooking

Savagery will emerge very quickly once the belly is empty
I don't think people understand the human's instinct for survival. When things get real, the facade of life goes away and people NEED to survive, then the playing field gets leveled real quick.

Was this in My Infamous Life? I never remember this chapter.
i listened to the whole book years ago i never remembered that chapter.

Funny how yall cant remember that part but it's an excerpt from the very beginning of the book. It's in the intro. I never read the whole book though i had it since the first time it came out but I know for a fact that's on either the first or second page.
