My mom use to knock our heads with her knuckles when we was acting up , some of the things she did would definitely be illegal today . how do u even put hands on a kid these days without getting in trouble? Belt ? Spanking?

My mother used a belt with me and my siblings. On the occasions where I have whooped my kids, I just used my hand. Ironically enough, I think I caused more pain to my hand than they felt through their clothes.

I occasionally spank my sons.

I try to use it as an absolute last resort and I always explain to them before and afterwards what they did wrong, what they should have done, and the occasional consequences of making bad choices.

You can talk and assign reprimands all day long, but occasionally something more punitive is needed in some situations.

I know some individuals that don't lay a hand on their child and that is their prerogative, but I work with children daily and I've seen very real world examples of what happens when you let certain behavior go unchecked or take a more lax and diplomatic approach to discipline.

Obviously, there are exceptions to every rule, but most of those parents have more lax parenting techniques as it comes down to disciplining and communicating expectations to their child.

I've spanked them before but not anymore. And when I did spank them I didn't put strength behind it. I can't spank my babies and regret even doing it in the first place. Then again my kids are pretty good.

Used to. Not anymore. Once I went in to beat my son he was hysterical and had such a look of fear on his eyes, I could never bring myself to raise a hand to him ever again. There are better ways.

I haven't smacked any of my older boys in atleast 5/6 years as I vowed to never do that again. I do punish them regularly when they're out of line though. They also lose privileges when they mess up which they seem to hate more than the punishment. I made sure they understand the or look too which usually has them all . It ain't easy raising kids but I think I'm lucky I have boys as I'm not sure I would be able to discipline a daughter.

Overall, my kids is quite well behaved.
