Also Too $hort taught me how to tie a tie. There's a life skill I got from a rapper. I can't really say that anybody else has taught me anything concrete like that. I mean you get some things from hip-hop, but unless you're about that life they talk about it doesn't really have a lot of practical value

I respect what 40 has done but I can’t think of a single rapper more unlistenable than him.

He wasnt as ridiculous in his early work, I can stomach it.

E-40 (& Too Short) is super regional, but he appeals to different regions at once.
That music has an aesthetic that transcends regions...dare I say, it speaks to the
Intranational ADOS experience.

40 gets love in Kansas City, St. Louis, Memphis, New Orleans, Detroit, Louisville...
places where our uncles talk like he raps.
You don’t have to be from The Bay to know a Captain Save-A-Hoe.
Or a broad like Tanji.
Or how many chunks you can cut off a cooked Ki.
Or having the money for a ride you can stunt in, but copping 2 hoopties so you can lay low or in case you gotta burn one.

You not really gonna relate to that if you a young teenybop rap fan,
or you just wanna hear bars,
or you never left the tri-state, so you haven’t really been in that life...but there are more
people that have lived that than there are who haven’t.

Now that I say that^... I think it’s fair to say 40 is a part of that line of acts that come along every so
often that (in that same fashion) The Rap Industry/Hip-Hop “doesn’t get”, but is successful to their surprise.

40 is fukked with all across the west really the only nikkas who dont fw him on the west, are introvert kinda corny nikkas who listened and worship east coast music, and transplants from other regions.
Alot of west coast nikkas fw 40.
Plus the midwest markets. as well areas in the south show love to him

All of this is super regional opinion. You’d be hard pressed to find a non Bay Area/Cali person that really finds 40 enjoyable to listen to. I think he’s universally respected, but nikkas up north and even in the South not listening or knowing about E40 from a respected lyricist or song making standpoint.

This is no different than ATL nikkas unironically claiming Andre over JayZ or something. It’s regional pride.

Preferring 3000 over Jay-Z is nothing like not fukking with E-40. There is absolutely nothing strange about the way 3000 raps. E-40 on the other hand has a unique style that if it doesn't gel with you then you will avoid listening to that dude at all.

The Jay-Z discussion would be framed around body of work and solo albums, not that one of the two is unlistenable.

I guess I have to be thay guy, but majority of the people that say E-40 is trash and are from the East Cost, they are usually immigrants because they Biggie was Jamaican and E-40 was going to have Biggie flatlined for disrespecting him and calling him a Zero.
