I'll describe the process like this:

Imagine your internal realm like a song with EQ and all the levels are doing what they do as you go through life to the tune of a certain beat. Now ordinarily lets say someone brings you some good news and the music inside shifts to something more upbeat and in tune with the outer. On the flip lets say you see something that reminds you of something sad and the direction of the set shifts towards more sombre pieces which in turn affect your emotion and cognizance.

That is standard, regular, expected and not what this topic is about.

What I'm speaking of is the psychological equivalent of this:

Where there is no external cue or internal hint. The needle of your emotional awareness is picked up from one track and dropped on another meaning you can go from bored to euphoric with nothing seemingly causing it or from worried to confident and other such polarity shifts that usually seem on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Been speaking to a few people about it who initially reject the idea then notice it happening later and say "Wait a minute?" because usually they just swept up in the groove and don't even notice the shift occurring but when the framework is in their head it seems way more obvious. For some its very dramatic like shifting the psycho-emotional equivalent of advertising channel background music to Ante Up and all it brings before that leaps into a classical piece which segues later into Slippin and so on.

Its not as chaotic as it sounds. For some its a now and then thing, for others it happens more reguarly and for a couple its been their regularly scheduled program for as long as they can remember as their outer world is entirely at the mercy of their inner psycho-emotive state as demonstrated by the metaphor of the setlist and what it generates.
