Do you feel bad after saying no to people who ask you for change?

Especially when you know you have some on you. Sometimes I'm like "what if that was a test and I failed " other times I'm like "they just gonna use it for xyz anyway". It's skressful and emotionally draining .

I'll cop someone a piece of food if they really look like they're about to pass out or if they look beyond broken. As someone who's been through some of my own misfortunes, there's just a certain look on your face you can't imitate when you really need a helping hand. Those are the looks that get to me. I won't give em money but a piece of warm food sure.

A while back this old lady stopped me and asked for $5 because she had cancer in her hands. They did look swollen and fukked up I was on my way to buy pizza for lunch but i just gave it to her instead. Felt like I might have been finessed but I charged it to the game if that was the case. I hope it helped her.

I wont just give out money to anyone though. There's gotta be a good reason.

I help pass out food from time to time nothing major

everybody goes through a rough time in life, especially black folk, and I couldn’t see myself looking down on someone living on the streets.

I remember I bought a can of beer for this old head and he was greatful as hell, hugged me and shyt and thanked me.

I live NYC so it's common, no I don't feel bad. I used give change as a teenager but as an adult? Nah. My heart got colder guess.


I did give a dollar this past summer to a brotha in Washington Square Park though, he legit looked down on us luck and I had a lot of dollar bills on me, so I gave him one.

If I have an extra dollar or two and don't urgently need it I don't mind giving it to someone that asks

I actually say no a lot, because I don't really be carrying cash around I mostly use my debit card/Apple Pay

Ever since college when I gave my 3-piece + biscuit to a dude with a sign that said "Hungry, please help." I handed breh the Popeyes out of my car window and made a u-turn to go back to the drive-thru to get some more for myself. I saw this m'fer put the chicken down and hold the sign right back up. Ever since then it's been fukk bums from me.

he looked at the money, counted it and said this isnt enough



breh its 9pm, and dark outside NO ONE is giving you money but you get act a way when i give you more than enough change to buy two meals

Nope, because most of the time its a hustle.

You have to look really down and out for me to even think about going in my pocket to give away money.

And panhandlers dont wanna go get GA cuz they know they'll have to hand out newspapers AND pay that money back..

Yea ive said no knowing i had more than $1500 in my pocket. I did feel like shyt afterwards n rightfully so but like a poster said above me you have to really look at them n make your decision

I live in nyc so panhandlers are all over, but ill never forget the time i was posted on 67th and park ave and i see this young man in his 20's sitting under a lampost in the winter. He was covered feet to neck with a big blanket and had a cardboard sign asking for money. i kid you not after about 10 minutes of me being there i saw him get up only to reveal a fresh pair of kicks and clean gear top to bottom. Then a female that looked like she was just chillen a couple feet away from me took his place and sat under the lampost and continued to hold the cardboard up

I know not everyones faking, but i know theres a lot of drug users as well. Ive offered food only to get attitude back about money being needed.

Ive been kind as well at times, i guess it depends on your day and the mood you in at the moment
