Define 'trouble'. They should still win 45-50 games and make the playoffs. They were never gonna win a title no matter what. Too flawed.

The main problem the Knicks have is KAT and Brunson are borderline unplayable defensively. No scheme or system you implement is going to fix it. You can hide one defensive liability. You can't hide two at the same time. That's a large scale, strategic issue.

Looking narrower - the team has clearly tuned Mike Brown out for whatever reason. He might not make it out of this year

Yes Kat and Brunson experiment isn’t working.

Mike brown will get blame but a lot of the same issues were there with Thibs as well.
I read something recently that Brunson was like in the 99th percentile offensively but the 1st percentile defensively.

That's the defense you're getting from your PG and there's no fixing it. He's not magically going to become a neutral defender. Add into the equation that you're playing KAT at C, it's impossible to win big like that. The Wolves figured it out, the Knicks are figuring it out.. that's why it's gonna be so hard for them to trade KAT. What team does he fit on? I'm not saying he's a bum but you can't really play him at C defensively and if you put him at PF you take away what makes him special.

As I keep saying we lost our identity/grit when IHart, DiVicenzo and Randle left/were traded away. We went from a team that could be competitive against anyone thanks to our hustle and grit to a team that entirely has to depend on talent to win. Beating Boston last year was cool but let's be honest, Detroit outworked us most of the series, they just didn't have enough talent and experience. And we all saw how things went against Indy.

We'll see if we can turn this around, the talent is there, but yeah adjustments clearly need to be made. Might be yet another big trade.

Towns wasnt this bad defensively last year. So either thibs did a better job of hiding his flaws, or Towns has already checked out. Still early in the season, but was never a fan of the Mike brown hire. The players probably think hes corny
