do you feel your intelligence is genetic or a product of your environment?

Da city where the skinny nikkas die
im speaking on your own intelligence

mine has to be genetic. cuz nobody in my fam gave a damn about education when i was growin up. it's definitely not NURTURE for me. all i kept hearing was "you're tall, you gonna be a basketball player when you grow up?" :dwillhuh:

meanwhile i was coasting thru school and eventually got put in gifted classes. the rest is history.

my theory was proven when i met my half-brother and he was the same way. even tho we both grew up in the slums. SMH

both... my parents are smart, but they were also smart enough to move to a good neighborhood when I was young and thus I got the benefit of receiving a quality education... I feel like both were major contributing factors

Outside of the rare genius / prodigy levels of intelligence, It's definitely not genetic.

I think its a mixture of both, some people are quick to comprehend and understand complex things very easily. But someone has to put that knowledge in front of you first for you to even know what you're able to know.

Yeah a 12 year old might know and grasp the practice and science of neurosurgery with little effort, but best believe someone put that book in front of them and taught them all about because he didn't learn it on their own.

Id say both in my case. My mother is smart and she also put me in classes outside of school to help me in reading and writing. I scored high on the SATs because of it and think i have a decent brain :jawalrus:

Product of environment.

If you grow up in the hood. 80% chance you will remain in the hood

Product of environment. Grew up in the hood (Nawfside of the H) but my mama put me in magnet programs at black schools while she worked on her own degree. I wouldn't be successful without her guidance.

It's a good read and explains in theory how both seem to be a factor. It can't be measured to the most accuracy however, because if two parents are naturally smart and grew up in a good environment, most likely they wouldn't for experimental purposes subject their kids to anything less.

Don't get it twisted though, some kids just have more natural talent than others.

However, pure genius= 15% natural ability and 110% hard work.

Y'all don't know what the hell y'all talking about. Intelligence is mostly genetics. Some nikkas are just gonna be dumb and visa versa. I never study or take notes and I'm 2 semesters away from graduating college, albeit with a 2.3 or 2.4 GPA. That has nothing to do with environment, it's all genetics

If I remember right from psychology, The ability to learn/retain knowledge is genetic.
