Do you force yourself to listen to an album just to say you listened to it?

A new album/mixtape drops and everyone's talking about it but you haven't listened to it yet. You decide to give it a listen but dislike it 4 songs in, do you force yourself to listen to it, flick through it or just shut it down completely?

Depends on the artist standing with me. If it's someone with a good track record (double entendre, don't ask me how) I'll finish it. It could pick up in the second half.

If it's someone I don't mess with they have about 45 seconds on each of the rest of the songs to show me something impressive.

I give most things multiple listens especially if they don't totally turn me off the first time listening. Then some of those albums end up becoming my favourites.

Yeah, I push through and listen to the whole thing if I make it through 4 songs. I actually listened to TPAB 2 times fully and did a skim through recently and my opinion on it hasn't changed. I just don't like it.

I listen to as much as possible to keep updated with what's going on. Sometimes have to prioritise though so have something mentally on a to listen to list. If it's an artist I fukk with
heavy or an artist I know I usually try to listen straight away if possible, if is an artist I don't like as much may take a little longer to check it out as don't have that excitement and enthusiasm to and it's more of a routine check to see what it's like and if there's any good beats or whatever. There's always an abundance of ish to listen to, even certain really dope stuff I missed back in the day still find, so an abdundance of listening material and fitting everything in can be a challenge in a busy life. But yes I do try and force myself to listen to certain shyt so I can be aware of it even if I don't like it.

THREE-OH-FIVE TILL I DIE
I used to do that before Napster and them came out.
I would buy a full cd.
Listen through it.
And try to convince myself that it was a descent cd........you know.....because I spent money on the shyt.

Prime example.....Snoop Dogg's The DoggFather. shyt was horrible but I was like, "It's Snoop. Spoop wouldn't put out some wack shyt, right?" :dwillhuh:

Back in '09 when Carter 3 dropped, I seriously tried to force myself to like it. Couldn't fukk with it at all. Only song I kept is Comfortable.

Same goes for anything by Kanye post-808's.

Same here. Might not go as far as listen to a whole album (if it's an artist I don't know and I'm not feeling anything after 4-5 tracks, might go to the bushes)

Some "big names" I directly give the :camby:, like Drake for example, I mean I just can't stand his voice so I know I can't listen to a whole album. shyt I hardly manage to listen to an entire song of his :heh:

On the other hand, and I've stated this numerous times, I TRIED to listen to GKMC and TPAB various times because well everyone says Kendrick's the new Pac, HH's saviour, etc and I really liked Section 80 so I was like "Well, it must be good then", and I still haven't managed to listen to either album in full. I try regularly but I always end up like :aicmon:
