Last Saturday, I watched three horror movies. But while they were good, none of them actually scared me to the point where I had a hard time sleeping. I really love horror movies but I feel like most of the recent ones have been so bad in how stereotypical and non-scary they are.

- The last horror movie I watched who actually scared me was Mirrors and I didn't watch the sequel because sequels are rarely good. -

By the way, my Netflix account is out of the question since I'm broke, but I use 123movies to watch movies online so if some of you know good movies I could find there, I'll gladly check them out.

I think it's you being grown more than anything. Kids are dependent on others for survival so it's easy to be scared. (*rant begins*)

If you want an adult to be scared you gotta immerse them in the narrative, make them feel like they're physically there, then start either slowly or suddenly stripping the main character(s) of their faculties. No gun no phone no technology... that's another thing.

...Technology is making entertainment obsolete to an extent. It's hard to sell nikkas on tension if they know they'd be able to tweet their location or call 911 in the moment.

Same thing applies across genres. Movie villains in action movies are becoming trash. I was thinking of this the other week. Let's take S.H.I.E.L.D. vs. Hydra, (which was later jacked by G.I. Joe vs Cobra). Both sides of the conflict had impossible technology by 60's - 80's standards. We didn't start getting cellphones and video games until 70's. fast forward and cats walk around with apple watches and smartphones tweeting bullshyt, that's two different audiences. The old tricks are like shooting blanks. That's lowkey why they had to base the new Joker movie in the 80s. Cause it's hard to sell the idea of one nikka in a clown suit doin the most cause in 2018 we know the police been shot this nikka. Especially black folks lmao. Y'all clappin nikkas left and right but you got this cac in clown makeup runnin the streets? :hhh:

Sounds kind of difficult. I don't think most film companies are ready to put all this effort into horror movies.

I found Descent to actually be a horror film and not just murder porn.

Mothman Prophecies is always good. Psychological horror.

And Mandy of course, Nick Cage actually manages to take himself seriously and this proves to be the best horror/action movie of the year....

A Quiet Place comes in as a close second...I don't like Jim from the Office doing anything else but comedy, but he actually pulls through in this one.
