Do you guys think GKMC will have better longevity than TPAB?

I feel like TPAB was better from a musical and artistic standpoint. But I feel like GKMC has more replayable music on it

Swimming Pools
Maad City
Money Trees
Poetic Justice
The Recipe
etc.

TPAB has great songs on it of course. But how many of them by themselves would you just replay? I think that's more for the fact that most of the music on it is supposed to have an emotional deliver that's suppose to challenge you intellectually while GKMC has more of mainstream sound to it. Which btw, I don't think a lot of people were ready for it. Most people don't have to hear those old school R&B, soul, and funk samples when trap and electronically produced music is so dominating today. Most people want something that's more dumbed down and easier to understand. The concept of GKMC and story is so clear you can pick up on the storyline thanks to the skits. (Kendrick is riding with homies, they rob a house, he gets jumped by Sherane's cousins, and so on). Also, most people don't like how "black" the album is. Yes, I said it. A lot of white fans, particularly younger white fans, are calling the album garbage. Some have straight up said they don't like it because of how it focuses a lot on race. GKMC is almost just as celebrated, but it's geared to have much more mass appeal.

I think 20 years from now they'll both be albums that are classics and celebrated but GKMC is more notable.

Just because gkmc is geared to have that mainstream appeal as opposed to TPAB doesn't necessarily mean that's why more gravitate toward it.

gkmc is overall superior to TPAB.

In terms of relevance sure. But, the two albums are equal in terms of replay value. Don't listen to the Kendrick Lamar Hater Squad, both albums see equal play in my rotation.

i've already played this album as much as I played GKMC as far as the whole project goes.

Only thing separating the two IMO is that he doesn't have a swimming pools on this one

was gonna say yeah but this is very true

tpab isn't that great imho but i appreciate the music

would much rather have a strictly instrumental version

Really ? without the backing vocals too?

Complexion, i and These Walls would be a struggle to listen to dontcha think ?

I wonder what the next one will sound like though :pharrell:

i mean they could cut out some of it but an instrumental reinterpretation would be dope af

TPAB will have longevity down the line. GKMC had trendy production with some tracks having the trap influence that's been popular for 4yr now. If u have a ounce of soul in u I don't understand how u can not feel this album. Just off production alone. I guess u gotta be a fan of funk, neo/nu-soul, and jazz to digest it. Its a very strong conscious anti politically charged album with many layers and a overall concept/theme. Very thought out. With all these black on black and racists cop shootings going on right now. This the type of music we need on a mainstream level.
