If you clicked this thread and are reading this text you already know what it is. Speak on it.

What prevents you from actualizing the gift you were dealt? That which you were born with. A natural talent that others would have to place blood, sweat and tears in to get to the level you already posses. Why have you been looking somewhere else? Dolphins swim. Eagles fly. You don't see them trying to switch sides...

In 1978 a skinny teen decided to try out for basketball and signed up for the varsity team. They hit him with the nope and had him riding the bench whilst his gargantuan friend did his thing instead. Dude was pissed. As he stormed off in a rage with his extra wide jeans flapping in the breeze he decided to make himself something so special that they'd have to sit up and pay attention to his skills. In four short years the NCAA were ready to crown him king. That boy was

The question is this - Do you have a natural talent you haven't nurtured? If not now then when? Waste not time or energy on regret as the past is done and what you do in the present influences the future you build because best believe its a choice, no matter how much you'd like to blame him, her or them. Its all on you. At the beginning and the end plus the middle as well.

Bonus: If someone had told you in 02 that Jimmy would become that dude who held Dipset down when 2 decades fly you would've clowned and yet his discography stands as testament to what I've just said as well as proof that any time you put the work in is better than the alternative of distraction or inaction.

my natural talent i guess was strength.

i used to arm wrestle as a kid never lost, i was benching out the whole gym at 16.

since then i have become somewhat creative. you know with the powerful bars and imagery and what not. i write and paint but still working in a physical field.

dope thread.

Everybody tells me i should go into voice over work. Its been like this ever since 6th grade. I swear to god that while some kids came back from summer break 6ft tall or rocking full beards, i wolk up one random morning at age 12 with Barry White's voice. Aint genetics a bytch tho?:pachaha:

Older men and women say i should get a radio job, while younger women often stop me mid sentence to awkwardly tell me they love my voice with their eyes glazed over (even if im doing some day 2 day stuff like depositing a check at a bank or asking for directions in a store this happens to me). :why:

I wouldnt mind going into the professional voice industry, but i know its part of "the arts" and these rarley pay well , and dont pay consistently. Similarly, because my voice is an inherrent skillset , im certain their are countless others with the same skill set and no barrier to entry. Id compare it to how "being tall" can put you in the pipeline to being in the nba, but there are hundreds of thousands of equally tall people vying for a few slots on the NBA.

Even worse, i am 99% confident that voice actors must get onto a casting couch and beg/do favors for their roles just like normal actors.:dame:

So i just never pursued it. The speaking talent was never nurtured in favor of more profitable, consistent, hardskills like engineering or computer science.

Been drawing since elementary and would forego going outside to play in order to sit for hours and work on my "craft." From still to action, I was decent.

Planned to attend Duke Ellington (acclaimed performing arts HS in DC) but received the audition invitation late and, therefore, it changed my life's trajectory.:wow:
