I don't have the cognitive dissonance required to take solace in the existence of an imaginary being. Not to mention I'd rather God be helping starving children rather than my stresses.
You can't trust your subjective experiences. How about you look up information and scientific studies regarding speaking in tongues?

shyt is purely a social phenomenon. The fact that it isn't real shouldn't effect your belief in God at all, again, religion is the culprit here, not merely a belief in a higher being. Schizophrenics also sometimes speak in tongues. It wouldn't surprise me if Christianity was created by a schizophrenic who thought he was hearing the voice of God.
I've actually contemplated that before... from my dealings in the healthcare field it does make one ponder. But after examining the ins and outs...my faith was restored and unshaken.
throughout his history...man has shown that he could & should never fully be trusted...so why would I put all of my faith into man?
The limitations of science is another issue to deal with. To parlay off of my health field experience and study of science there are still things that we cannot explain. For instance, recently a guy was pronounced dead by an MD/coroner. He was placed in a body bag and was in that capacity for over more than an hr. Once placed on the funeral home table...he started kicking to try to get out. This happened no less than a month ago.

now from my experience, once your heart stops & the nurses see that you are dead, they call the MD & corner both have to come from wherever they are and then pronounce the guy. Time lapses should be at least 30mins. The body is then prepared for the Funeral Home by the nurses...maybe about 5-10mins. By this time, someone should have easily noticed this guy's chest moving from breathing if he was alive after all that. During this time the nurse will discuss with the family the funeral home they want to use. That's about 15min for the Funeral home to drive there and back to embalm him depending on proximity. Plus he was placed in a body back that is plastic which should make a guy like him that has oxygen/resp problems even worse & harder for him to breath...suffocation should easily occur with a guy like him.
They rationalize it with a pacemaker kicking back in once he entered the funeral home. The problem with this is all of the time that has past with his brain and heart not having any oxygen he should have been dead any way. I don't know how to explain it? Do you?
