Long story short- So my sister's beautician needed a TV and my sister offered to give my late dad's tv to her. When she arrived, I brought the TV outside and was about to carry it to her car. She stopped me and said "You don't have to do that. I can carry it.. So I was like :yeshrug:

And handed her the tv and went back to watching the playoffs.

Now, I know some men who would insist and say "no I got it." But I know how some sisters are. And don't want men doing nothing for them. So I just pull back. But what about you? How do you handle these situations?

I insist after the first time because I assume they're being polite. If they decline my assistance a second time, I'll leave them to it.

You should have carried that TV though.
Why should I, in your view?

She just be younger because I don’t turn down free labor anymore lol.
Yeah she's like late 20's. From my experience with black women this age, they view things differently then whe I was raised.

How I was raised men don't let women do any type of hard manual labor or lifting.

My mom and sister will look at me crazy if I ask them to lift some heavy shyt.

flat screen tv's aren't even heavy at all today but still.

Thought you were talking about money/paying.

This was a stranger, so respect her words. If she got it, she got it.

Wouldn't let female relative or friend carry the tv no matter what she said.

But naw, you did the right thing. Maybe she was embarrassed about the condition of her car or something.

Thats not the point, if someone asks you not to do something you don’t do it.

if you see someone struggling on their own, you should always offer help. But if they decline they decline.
