I been having this discussion on some IG page. Basically saying chivalry is sexist, insisting to pay for drinks is sexist, etc. TBH unless it's an elderly person or a man I might not even have suggested to carry it in the first place. You never know how your offer will be perceived. She might've even have thought "fukk him for thinking I can't carry the TV myself"

Se wanted you to insist to carry the tv or offer to help before she got to it. and read her mind.....HOWEVER

AS a man you get tired of having to play mind reader so once in a while you gotta just fall back

Yeah she's like late 20's. From my experience with black women this age, they view things differently then whe I was raised.

This is true. It could be a myriad of reasons why, maybe she didn’t want to feel she “owed” you something. You’d be surprised at how many people don’t experience general kindness on a regular.

Thats not the point, if someone asks you not to do something you don’t do it.

if you see someone struggling on their own, you should always offer help. But if they decline they decline.
As a man you tell them to shut the hell up and you do what you are supposed to do.

You let woman tell you what to do? bytch-made.

You did the right thing.
You offered, she declined so you respected her decision.:yeshrug:
If deep down she wanted you to help she should’ve accepted your initial offer.

How I was raised men don't let women do any type of hard manual labor or lifting.

My mom and sister will look at me crazy if I ask them to lift some heavy shyt.

flat screen tv's aren't even heavy at all today but still.
Or sit and not let a lady have the seat. My grandfather would turn in his grave.

Long story short- So my sister's beautician needed a TV and my sister offered to give my late dad's tv to her. When she arrived, I brought the TV outside and was about to carry it to her car. She stopped me and said "You don't have to do that. I can carry it.. So I was like :yeshrug:

And handed her the tv and went back to watching the playoffs.

Now, I know some men who would insist and say "no I got it." But I know how some sisters are. And don't want men doing nothing for them. So I just pull back. But what about you? How do you handle these situations?

You fukked up. The first time a woman says that she is just trying to be polite. You should turn that down, then if she insists again you are in the clear to let her carry it.

If it's hard labor, imma do it.

That's the problem with the world today.

Women tryna be a man (they wanna somehow prove that they are as strong as we are) while men wanna be a woman (like that dude in the other thread asking how come his woman can't be his provider).

Imma do my part to reset the natural paradigm, at least in the circle of ppl I deal with.
