Most of us here are getting up in age, so I'm sure its something we all think about.

I've come to the realization that a lot of people I know have no retirement plans. I'm not sure if they're aware and don't care living it up, or they feel its too late.

I love the idea of sports cars, vacations, and nice houses, but the more i think about it, the more realize I should drive my shyt till the wheels fall off. Its crazy because if none of us had to drive, we'd be saving $700 - $1000/month.

Limited income, high debt, and lack of employer-provided plans are barriers.

Another is consumerism.

Best advice is to start small and stay consistent.....then let it build. As time passes, increase your savings contributions as your income increases. It doesn't matter if you're working at Denny's or shining shoes at the Greyhound station in Buttcreek, Mississippi. Just put something away.

Only the people I have helped when I was advising. So around 50 people. Hopefully they stuck to the plans!

many didn't know better. some were used to pensions from union jobs and military and social security. Just gimme another 15 years and my social security when that comes.

I'm prepared for retirement. Will have a home overseas, enjoying my 401k and IRA, and my Social Security check.

Teaching our people financial management is critical.
