Do you listen to hip hop music as "comfort food"?

What I mean by "comfort food" is something to fall back on. Like if you going through a rough patch you might throw on some Marvin Gaye, or Miles Davis etc. Usually its some vintage shyt

Im a huge, huge hip hop fan... thats like 70% of the music I listen to, but if Im really trying to chill out, refocus my energy, etc, I throw on Jazz, Soul or Psychedelic Rock :yeshrug:

absolutely. my whole life.
Only point I was going to make is that newer hip hop has a synthetic quality to it, and 90s hip hop tends to be really high energy, and aggressive

Undoubtedly my favorite genre of music, but cool to take a break from every now and then

I pretty much only listen to hip hop music. Been that way since 94. The only time I'm not listening to hip hop music is when I'm checking out samples that have been used to make hip hop music :myman:

Yup.

I usually go to KRIT and James Blake for that.

You need some balance, brehs.

It comes with age.

In my teens I was all about HIPHOP all day, every day.

Now I can deal with any music that has soul.

i do for sure. but it's usually some deep introspective shyt over a jazzy beat or some mellow laid back shyt

but i can also listen to "nuthin but a g thang" and be taken back to my younger years hanging out with my older brothers just chillin and playin bball or ridin in the car and seein the sun come through that sunroof

just depends what i need at that moment. the songs that take u back to the simpler days >>>>>>>>>
