I love them both.

We have been stagnant from '08 to '13 because there is nothing fresh, you can't expect 30 or 35 year old rappers to do anything cutting edge. I never remember a time when there were so many 35 or 38 rappers making music, and most of them songs come out flat.

But things has gotten interesting lately with them young dudes out of Cali and Chicago.

We shouldn't even have to be looking at those rappers, reason we do is that the new ones haven't been able to take the shine from them. No one was cheking for older rappers in the 90s or even in the 00s, because younger rappers (those who are older now) were talented enough to run the game. imo

Nah, this is what they pushed on us. Remember most of the music that is being pushed is coming from the South, none of those down south rappers are under 30.

Now, those 20 year olds from Cali and Chicago are starting to make their breakthrough, and this is the new music that is making people excited again.

there was a gang of rappers in the early-mid '00s that were ready to grab the torch but never got that shot.

hell, even people like dipset & dblock didn't get the proper run that they deserved.

politics killed hip-hop.

I feel those rappers got their shot and really helped the youngings that came after them. Before that every rapper wanted to be Jay-Z.

Then Dip Set, Budden, and D-Block said it was all about creating a movement...tf it wasn't for that, dudes would have not started to shift the momentum back in 2012.

The labels really tried to stagnant the music, but dudes like Odd Future, TDE, ASAP Mob, and GBE just threw their videos on Youtube. It feels damn good that the spirit of our music can't be stopped.

too much low-balling & blackballing in those days. jay-z is one of the main culprits. thus, we have a 60 year old jay-z putting out horrible records and still being in the forefront. this is not the hip-hop that I came up on.

like @Big Mel said a week or so ago, things got "hairy" after '96. it wasn't really about rap no more.

and im sorry, but out of those crews you mentioned, 3 of them were industry plants. that's not the spirit of our music. GBE aren't plants but they suck.
