I feel like artists don't really need to sell music in stores anymore. Fabolous sold 71,000 first week on his recent album online without any CDs in the store or anything. Drake sold 500,000 first week online without having the CD of his mixtape in stores. I feel like if these artists can do this online what is the point of CDs anymore. And we live in a generation where our music is easy to access online and we don't need to way in a line to buy some album, we can go press buy and download the shyt on iTunes or GooglePlay.

I still buy vinyl from a couple of stores over here. I just like the experience.

But also buy a lot of hard to find stuff online.

i used to like CD's, but i'm a minimalist so i love not having a collection of physical junk in my house (especially because i have moved so much in the past 8 years). i also don't care about liner notes, pics and all that shyt. i want to know who they love/wanna shoutout? i can read their twitter. if i want pics, a google search has 1000's, if i need writer/production credits, wikipedia. digital >>>>>>> physical. i guess if you're into vinyl it's different, but even then, for what? the nostalgia? don't nobody care about the "warmth" coming from your record player

I prefer buying the physical product. I don't understand why I would spent the same money on a digital product that I could get for free. The CD and even more vinyl is something special to me. Bought the vinyl of Be yesterday:wow:

Streaming:
I feel less guilty using spotify than when I pirate. Also, its incredibly convenient and saves a ton of hard drive space.

Physical:

It actually boggles my mind as to why people would buy CD's outside of it being a symbolic gesture and/or indulging in nolstagia. I remember the pre-mp3 era. IMO, CDs are literally the least convenient way to access music.

i need that cd, i need the credits, the lyrics, i wanna read the thank yous, who sung background vocals, who played the guitar, who had additional production, i wanna know all that shyt. I'll buy an online album if it's an artist i really like and have no other choice, other than that I'm only copping physicals.

what are you getting from a CD? cd's cost pennies, printing the liner notes, a few pennies. you're paying for a plastic disc with digital imprints, why even fumble with a disc when you can just say "siri, play kanye west"

all of this is online, how many time you reading that joint? you laying on your bed with your legs crossed in the air staring lovingly at pics and reading thank you's every time you listen to a cd? i don't get this...digital music is so much more convenient. this aint 1996 when people came to your house and are impressed by the 1000 cd tower sitting in your living room...and this is coming from someone who prolly bought 30-50 cd's a year from 1996-2002

edit: and we won't even talk about the car, who's toting cd's in and out the car, to the house, etc. or are we going thru the extra effort of putting the cd on your computer to put it on your phone?

I like to support artists I like, and I like to collect CDs, and actually having something in your hands. And I can put it on my phone aswell.

i do too, so i buy their digital album. buying a cd to still have to put it on the phone = waste of effort/time when i can skip that. as for collecting cd's, can't argue against your hobby/preference there.

no the hell it's not. you might could find the production credits but you ain't finding everything in there, i done looked plenty of times on a few albums. and you acting like i can't just rip the cd breh. i don't like streaming, I'm cool on listening to music on my phone. if a digital and a cd are the same price why would i but the digital? just don't make sense to me.

Indeed, I think its a matter of preferences. For me an iTunes copy is the same as a torrented copy, so I go with the CD. S/o for supporting the artists tho:salute:
