This is the problem some of you guys have become so transactional. If a friend male or female needs help and I have the time/ability, I got them. I keep very few friends but all of them are as good as family to me they could ask to borrow money ( to an extent) and I got them and they would do the same thing for me if I needed it.

This is true only as long as it goes both ways. (talking from the male with a non romantic female friend)

I've seen this arrangement in real life, but usually with relatives, i shovel my aunts driveway when it snows, cut her grass, drive her to church etc. , she'll bring me a plate of food, or watch my daughter for an afternoon.

even With male friends generally its understood, that if i help you move furniture, you would do the same for me in return.
