As a moviegoer I can tell when an idea is cliched or if something feels original so clearly these guys would have a much better understanding

What do you think the % is who willingly get involved in bullshyt and how many money grabs do you give an actor before you give up on them?

I remember hearing Kevin Costner talk about the Field of Dreams script. He said is was a risky movie to take. He said their was greatness in the script, but he recognized it could turn out really corny & terrible if it wasn't done right, or if people didn't get it.

An actor definitely knows when a script/idea is bad. There's no way to tell if a great script or idea will turn into a bad movie until the tons of other people involved are incorporated

I disagree. Let's be real, a lot of these actors are dumb as fukk in real life. Some of them can recognize a great script themselves, but I am sure most rely on their agent or just look at the names (director, producers, actors) involved in the pic.

If left entirely to their own devices, most of them would sign on to trash films 24/7.

I posted that under the impression that we were talking about actors who had the leverage and stature to pick and choose roles. You're 100% correct in what you're saying.

I think its usually hard to tell. Every great movie you learn about people who turned down roles in it. My guess is its less about the script (assuming we’re ignoring the straight up bad ones) and more about the directors and costars.

Well, in many cases it is also about the image an actor chooses to pursue. There are a lot of great scripts or roles that many actors would refuse because they fear how it would reflect on their image. The best example of that is probably Will Smith who has always actively gone for that family friendly hero lane and turned down more edgy roles and films that he feared would mess with his popular image.
