Paul George was 34 years old last summer, he was not a free agent in the peak of his prime years when the 76ers signed him to that long term expensive contract. But yeah he was the biggest name in free agency last year though not a game changing first option/superstar anymore.

That era is over. 90% of free agents now are top of the line roll players. All true stars are quick to sign max & supermax contracts with their current team. It takes a big trade to get a star.
