do you think if big L was still here he could've reached jay z's level in the game?

i feel like he kinda had that same lyrical wit about him that jay z had in the mid to late 90's
now granted, by 98' jigga had already become a household name and big l still hadn't achieved that kind of notoriety
but i often wonder by the turn of the 2000s if he had struck gold with a big single (hard knock life esque) and an album that connected with a wide range of audiences could he have attained that level of superstardom

what y'all think?

honestly?

absolutely not :ehh:

i ask because lyrically the nikka could hang with someone like a jay but all he was missin' was that single ala "hard knock life" to connect with larger audience
i think if he had the right producers who could've help him mesh the perfect level of singles for the club and then some shyt for the street, he could've been a contender

I can't imagine big rapping past 2002
But no, Jay was/is his own boss
Big was under Diddy and Un Riveria
And little known fact big was heavenly in debt when he died

it is hard to imagine biggie rappin' post 2002, with the way everythin' had changed
i can't picture biggie over a neptunes beat
and it's a damn shame big was in debt when he passed :mjcry:

According to Jay he could, they were allegedly going to sign him before he passed.

As far as hits goes though, I don't know or even songs with RnB singers. But then again, I don't know if I would've believed that Pun could move multi and have big cross over hits before Capital Punishment.

Personally I doubt it because I can't see him lasting that long as the eras changed, cam and mase made it because the had the lyrics and the flow to switch up.
