Do you think it was right for Nas to ask for 50 percent of Quan's publishing?

Thats sounds like an old school deal where the person bringing an artist to the label gets 50 percent (Ironically I believe its what Stretch decided not to with Nas as he claims years later)

Could be wrong though

Thing is, Im skeptical at Quan as a whole, because as soon as he signed that deal he went out and did a robbery and got arrested and I think even did a bid, its like at that point he fukked it up for himself and he been trying to holler at Nas for ages

how did his career pan out?

:sas1:

did he ever have another hit?

:sas2:

there's a price for getting put on... it's standard practise.

Exactly. AND the only reason dude even had a hit in the first place is because Nas jumped on the song. It's a dope song and Quan did his thing on it but it never woulda went nowhere without that Nas cosign. 50 percent is a lot but if I was Quan I woulda took the deal just to work with a legend if nothing else.

Right. Was it a take it or leave it deal?

all I remember was that he got busted for a robbery or something very soon after that song/Street's Disciple album came out, had the burner hidden in the freezer or something. he must have got put away for a number of years, unable to get any music out after that and unable to hook back up with Nas after that, so people just forgot about him. he had some mixtapes but really, most people only heard of him from that one song.

You mean Search. Unless he was lying about that and Nas was trying to do what might have been done to him.
