Do you think the Supreme Court should be balanced?

Obviously, Trump says he's putting in a Conservative member on the Supreme Court. But if Obama was able to put in a liberal justice, would that have been dangerous for the country in your view? Dangerous in a sense, that there would be no balance? Now, obviously the liberals think conservatism is dangerous. And conservatives believe liberalism. But for those who are not "married" either way, do you want a balanced supreme court?

The "golden mean" is a logical fallacy and people need to stop applying it to every political question. Taking two ideas and finding the middle ground doesn't lead you magically to a correct answer. Often times A is true and C is false. Trying to argue for B because it is in the middle doesn't mean it is correct. It'd still be wrong.

But even within those parties you have degrees. Moderate, ultra, etc. So would that apply even to that with no so called "balance".

In my opinion, SCOTUS should have some sort of geographical requirement. For example, something that requires each justice to be a resident of a different U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals at the time of appointment. That would ensure that the people appointed are not just DC insiders. Some state supreme courts already have similar requirements.

Mandatory retirement age might help as well. If you're like 80+, you need to go be with your family and leave the lawmaking to the next generation.

Uncertain grounds
id prefer a bench of all moderates, some originalists and some who see it as living and breathing :yeshrug:or an even number of liberal/conservative with moderates too..like 3/3/3 would be good

i liked garland as a nominee and wished the Rs didnt obstruct him
