what does that have to do with people creating threads?...his problem is with that, yet he's blaming the marketing...his anger is misplaced....

as for casuals: the marketing is to keep the product on their mind when they go in the store to make a choice about a game....they might be willing to try out whatever game cause that was the last game they saw from marketing...
Because casuals don't follow game news and keep up to date with the latest character reveal/teaser trailer. They know what they see on TV commercials and internet ads.

I only have a problem with Madden and 2k honestly. They just try to brainwash you with trailers and other hype. People want to see actual gameplay before they go purchase a $60 game. Especially with Next Gen and the lack of launch day demos I'm pretty sure. If 2k turns out to have the same gameplay as current, I'm going to be heated.

It works on casual people that aren't going to go in-depth with research.

I think releasing bits of info is a good idea regardless because if you put a bunch of information out there...and then your game meets bumps and needs to be pushed back a bit from it's "Q4 release date", then it comes down to waiting and waiting and that shyt is whack. Would rather get a smaller group of information farther away from the date and then reveal a lot more closer to release, than to just have everything out there and be subject to change as push backs potentially happen.

Obviously the Ubisoft/EA approach to promoting games helps(shoving it down your throat via a/v advertising)

I think that a lot of the industry does well.
It ultimately comes down to how much someone believes in the game or how marketable it is. Most games will not be promoted on tv so slowly building positive momentum while pandering a core audience online or at a gaming conventions is a good strategy. Its cheap and can reach a lot of people.

I hate this about movies more. Like the big DC and Marvel movies don't even release official plot synopses until like three months before release, and when they do it's on some "Batman faces a new threat as a mysterious masked man named Bane takes control of Gotham" shyt that still tells us nothing about the plot, so there's not even a reason to wait so long, except one...

... they know the dumb hype-generating internet fanboys will start a thousand forum threads on it, speculating endlessly. Every useless fukking tidbit gets blown up to enormous proportions on blogs and social media because they all want those hits.

And I absolutely abhor it.
