black people who practice Christianity around the world aren't only doing it because of slavery. Most black people in America are; but that's not to say that they were theological blank slates previous to that. -- And I was saying that in the context and ideas surrounding this tread / the discussion on forced Christianity onto Transatlantic slaves.

Well you'd have to ask the TS to clarify because there hasn't really been any kind of ideological Atheist revolution let alone a black one. The ascent of secularism in Europe and beyond has been subtle and can't be encompassed by singular cultural movements.

I may be an atheist but I'm also a pragmatist. Other countries and ethnic groups have achieved cultural progress and social stability in the context of religious belief. There isn't necessarily anything particular to atheism as an ideal that caters to that unless we're conflating it with humanism, which we shouldn't.

We're mostly agreed. Religion has throughout history been endemic to African cultures and that should always be taken into account.

Yes, officially but the distinction clearly didn't emerge from nothing. There are distinct cultural and historical parallels that are particular to the region that aren't found elsewhere in Africa. But that's besides the point. When referring to West Africa in 2013 most would assume you were referring to that particular region and you weren't. Countries on the West coast of Africa below the Gulf of Guinea are part of Central Africa with Angola being the southernmost.

Two Things for this discussion. There will never be a Black Atheist Revolution. Why?

1. They would single handily destroy all logic of creating a strong Black following.

2. They follow everything cacs do down to the lines of political parties, views and actions in the black community.

If the Black Community of 5% and Ancient Kemet Followers would say "Black Man is God/Black Woman is God"

Black Atheist would say "There is no God". His logic would destroy self preservation, knowledge of self, wisdom and understanding. He would also destroy any black woman or man's chance to see their skin tone as a powerful resource.

The joke is really on the atheist whose views only reflects frustration that their ability to connect to Black Community is so pointless. They blame religion for forcing things on others but sure follow the same manual when wanting people to know their position.

I am not black (or American) - however Atheism flourishes in well educated societies - without education and independent thought people often wander into either apathy and/or superstition.

This is the essential point one has to consider when you ask if such and such group will or could turn to Atheism.

This is it.

Blacks will remain religious for as long as they're kept down education wise.
The moment blacks as a group start getting equal treatment, and get that education, they too will start turning atheist.

Until then you just gotta accept that there'll be a bunch of dumbass religious niccas.
