Do you think there will ever be a rap artist recording until 70 like David Bowie?

But I was listening to Bowie's new album today, and it's one of his most adventurous and experimental albums yet. Which is extraordinary, once you take into account Bowie's contemporaries and the fact that there aren't many 69-70 year olds pushing boundaries like Bowie.

But it got me thinking...do you ever think we'll see a rap artist, not necessarily like Bowie, because it's not same, but one who will stay relevant until they are old?

Or does rap move too quickly? Or will rap as we know it change more and more as music becomes genre less and rappers stray more and more away from traditional rap sounds?

Hip hop mostly shyts on their elders, but there might be one or 2. I could see snoop performing when he's 70...but putting out new music? I don't know.

I could see Kool Keith still rapping at that age and it would prolly still be tight.

But Hip-Hop fans are just different than any other genre of music that respect their elder artist.

Hip Hop would have to grow up a lot more, first. The culture doesn't respect the forefathers all that much. Any time one of them speaks out against what's currently hot, they're seen as being a "dusty ass nikka". That'll eventually change, but it won't be for a while.

In another 20 odd years when rappers are 70 I don't think there will be labels as they are today.

There's some rappers who are close tho. Ice -T and Chuck D are in their mid to late 50s and Chuck has recent albums out and Ice just released a Body Count album. I'd say there will be guys that do it. I bet when David Bowie was 30-40 he probably didn't think he would be releasing new albums in 30 years either.
