sometimes I flirt with the idea of running for some sort of public office in about 5-7 years. I live in nyc and legitimately think I could make a great borough president or even mayor. It's obviously hard to run and money is a big issue, but I honestly believe if I was elected I could change things and make some kind of difference. I'm not easily corrupted because I've never been greedy for money or power. With that kind of power and influence I'm sure the ego gets inflated naturally but I believe if get more satisfaction from changing things. Most of my female family members are teachers in the public school system including my grandmother and my aunt. My girl's mother and her aunts are teachers as well. Both still teach. My father has been working for transit since before I was born, so I have quite a few inside working class vantage points.
I don't know if it will ever happen but if it did I'd do the right things for the people. Instead of all the hashtaging and memes, those of us over 25 should at least consider some type of public office or leadership role in your community. It may not be for another couple of years but it could happen. While you discuss and dissect all the issues going on in the media you need to focus on the problems in your own community and jot down some ideas on how to change things even in a small way. Think outside the box and do some real research. Lots of things are public record and easily accessible online.
Even if you don't want to run do the research so when election time comes around, you can challenge the politicians talking out of their ass by brining up facts. Challenges their ideals and poke holes in their theories publicly. Most of the things politicians talk about never add up in reality but people are too lazy to even check what they're saying.
Anyway, back to the topic. Do you think you could lead in a political/public capacity?
