I can't think of another coach at the moment whose been in The NBA with such an up & down resume. A case can be made for him being a great coach no differently than him being an overrated one.
Pros
- Coached 3 HOFs to a title that alluded them up to that point.
- Was flexible enough to allow a young Rondo become the focal point of the team with 3 aging HOFs at his disposal.
- A case can be made that the Celtics were a KG injury & Perk suspension away from a 3peat
- Was instrumental in the player development of DJ & Blake after both were coming off previous woeful seasons under Del Negro
Cons
- Only coach in league history to give up a 3-1 series lead twice
- Having two enormous playoff meltdowns under his belt including having a 18 pt lead going into the 4th Quarter at home only to lose to The Rockets bench
- Allowing his desire to save his child's playing career to be in direct conflict with team chemistry and cause strife within the locker room
- Refusing to pull the plug on the Melo deal which would have raised the Clippers stock and potential championship hopes due to his apprehension to part ways with his son
- Making horrible decisions as GM that would in turn impede on his ability to coach a winning team
