Michael Wilbon: Doc Rivers Has Been Told LeBron James Doesn't Want to Be Coached

During Tuesday's episode of Pardon The Interruption, Michael Wilbon addressed the rumors about Doc Rivers potentially taking over as Lakers head coach next season:

"There are people in southern California right now in that environment telling Doc he doesn't wanna do this. And one of those reasons is simply, LeBron James. He's been told by people—and I know this—LeBron doesn't want to be coached. He's never been coached by someone with that kind of personality, command, authority, acumen, intellect. He's rejected that. So Doc is being reminded of that by people."

my question to the LeGBT Community, is this true? :ohhh:

IDK if this is true or not, but it is interesting that this ties in with the news that Rivers legitimately did consider the Lakers before signing bacc with the Blippers :jbhmm: Bron playing with a guy like Doc that would've chewed his defense out 82 games (not saying Bron doesnt have some good defensive games)...that would've been a bad pairing.

When did Doc Rivers become this great coach?...FOH

Doc has done a good job this season but let's not pretend that he's some elite level HC.

Who is an elite, well respected black coach the Lakers can hire?

WTF does that even mean?? Doc has been a top 5 coach for the last 10+ years. Are you seriously trying to discredit his resume? Would you do the same thing to OVERRATED ASS Larry brown or George Karl??

It's weird, it seems like he doesn't ever want to be coached but when he went to Miami he was thirsty for Pat Riley to coach him. I think the ship has sailed on being able to coach Bron. He's 34 and has almost always had more power than the coaches. Sadly he needs a coach to check him and get him right. Under the right coach he would have 5+ championships.

yeah well Steve Baller just locked Doc back up today so we've avoided another debacle :whew:

I think Wade's cosign of Pat is what made Bron comfortable with the idea of playing for him. Bron trusts Wade a lot so probably figured he and Pat would be ok as long as Wade is there too :yeshrug:

WTF does Brown and Karl got to do with this?

Doc is better than both of them...But he's not great as some people are proclaiming him to be.

Doc has been a good coach for awhile now what are you talking about?

Great and Good are two different levels.
