from what i know, DOC had a falling out with Dre, and kept his lyrics for Heltah Skeltah and used them for his own project that he called Helter Skelter.

the lead single was "Return of Da Livin Dead" and its basically a fukked up bizarro world remix of "Its Funky Enough" - it has that mid 90s horrorcore sound. the production is ... just bad. but what the fukk happened to DOCs pen? these are the lyrics he came up with??

with his voice being what it is, i honestly cant tell if the person transcribing the lyrics didnt know what they were doing, or if the DOC just completely lost his fukkin mind! like wtf is this even trying to say

the entire song comes off like a schizo episode, and not in a good/creative way. i genuinely wish i never heard this

by the final verse, he tries to say something but its too late at this point

anyway.. the video is just as bad. i wonder if it got played 2 or 3 times before they quit playing it

love the DOC, hes a legend, but this project is best left forgotten :francis:

what was going on in his head that completely destroyed him? was it trauma and alcoholism? thats my guess

To be fair you're critiquing an english as a second language persons recounting of the lyrics on genius.com which theres more errors than accuracies amongst those 3 verses, for example the line "as a naps and a glock" is actually the word "synopsis"

Kinda unfair to be critical of lyrics that weren't actually said

He said he was drunk & high making the album and couldn't give it what it needed, but needed some money. Said he also didn't believe in the new voice.

Most likely anger & depression with those 2 played parts in stuff being all over the place. Anger at Death Row and Dre and depression from the voice damage, drugs & alcohol to cope.

Whole album was actually a Dre/Cube album like ppl said, he took it to Atlanta when he fell out with them. The vibe Dre & Cube were going for was dark & apocalyptic. That's why the album sounds like that and the video's like that, it's supposed to be him rising from the grave and from his voice dying.

Concept is cool, the disconnect is Dre/Cube had energy to pull the apocalyptic shyt off while he sounds half dead over spooky beats. shyt's hard to listen to but he could've carved a nice lane out and been a horrorcore artist if he had thought about it. They like this shyt, the damaged voice was perfect for that. It's basically what the album is anyway

I loved this album as a kid. I had no idea he was in a car accident and thought the voice was just production.

It's wild, I was arranging my FLAC albums on my PC today and came across this album and thought about listening to it. I need to listen to this and RBX's album again cuz I remember kinda liking them back in the day.
I still play a good portion of The RBX-Files a few times a year

i still like that one. i know i made fun of RBX but thats only because of that one guy who rides his nuts on here

im sure RBX is a decent guy and has no idea that FGGIT posts on here embarrassing him every day
I probably play his 2nd album (No Mercy, No Remorse) more than X-Files, but i generally like his music and have since The Chronic. Damn shame Dre couldn't ever get it together to get an album out by X on either Death Row or Aftermath.
