Hey y’all, check out this documentary. It centers on the descendants of the Africans who came over on the last slave ship, the Clotilde. When they came here they were free, and persevered for land that they still have today but the descendants of the oppressors declined interview. It is interesting because today that white family still owns 60% of the land out there and they own a paper mill in that part of town too.

Take an opportunity and check in on your roots. You never know what legacies you walk in

Show us some documentaries on the inventions of black people.

enough of this slave history.
Actually, Hank Aaron, Satchel Paige, and the inventor of the super soaker, Lonnie Johnson are from here. He worked for NASA while he developed it.

Check out the trailer before you judge. By the way the descendants of them went on to be millionaires (some) and the documentary is more about how to honor the legacy rather than indulging on trauma shyt

That's in mobile Alabama isn't it? I just drove through there recently, I didn't realize the name had such significance
Next time you drive thru stop thru on TNT, the least I can do is chop it up at Waffle House with you and show you about these Alabama streets lol. On dogs, we need to start a network because I would love if we started connecting and building with like minds out here. I want the money I donate to go to our foundations so they can fund movements and issues we support

Ok provide links to all that. So the young minds reading this thread don’t begin to think less of themselves. Show some damn pride in ur race. Yes slavery happened but damn it, y’all can’t keep letting the world define u by it. It’s been 400 years and yes everyone knows the history of blacks in the Americas. It’s time to change how we’re universally viewed. And publicly reminiscing on the violent inhumane subjugation of the black race is not a good look. It’s a shame y’all don’t see this.

Where can i watch?

The film has been picked up by Netflix and will be released on the platform this year. It debuted at Sundance and won a Grand Jury award. I watched the film during the festival. It is an amazing documentary that made me very reflective and understand the importance of passing down oral history especially about my family heritage. The film also pissed me off how the Alabama government has treated descendants of the Clotilda.
