I would say his current ideals/morals/frame of mind would be the most important. However whether the past is important depends if his past has an effect on the present. For example, if he impregnated 3 women 5 years ago and now has 3 baby momma's and three children that will affect his present regardless if he is a changed person and no longer in the business of acquiring BMs. However, if it's something else like he use to be a wild dude but has cleaned up his act I would say that it is something that can be looked past as long as he is not currently living or dipping into the previous lifestyle.
