i think people want the title for the protection. it sets guide lines, limits and boundaries as to how both people should act.the title doesn't shield you from getting cheated on. matter of fact, you can't get cheated on if you don't have the title. it's not really about men vs women though. it's about who's more attached to the other. that person is going to want the title to feel safer cause if the other person "cheats" then at least they can blame them more instead of themselves.it's just that typically, women date up so chances are the woman will be more attached (at least initially).
the person who doesn't want the title pretty much wants to avoid responsibility. doesn't want to feel like they have to do things. doesn't mean they don't like the other person or don't care about their feelings.
i don't think there is only one way. neither are "wrong". you're only wrong if you go for something you don't want cause you're scared of losing the other person (and that could be either camps)
