Does anybody else find the recent Mariota hype/praise excessive?

When it comes to Mariota it seems like the media loves to pack it on and praise/slurp him. I've been hearing how he is so drastically improved and how he'll be an elite QB. I've seen articles this week saying he should have went first overall instead of Jameis. etc. Are they forgetting that just the week prior he lost his team the game with turnovers against San Diego. Are the forgetting that Demarco is the second leading rusher and they have one of the best olines in football? PFF (although I don't think they are the most credible source) had the Titans Oline ranked as the number 1 Oline through the first 5 weeks of the season. The Titans have the 6th ranked Oline through week 11. Through 4 weeks Tampa was ranked 26th and through Week 11 they are ranked 20th. Tampa Bay has one of the worst rated left tackles in Donovan Smith. Lets check the stats and see if the praise is warranted.

Mariota (10 games played)
21 TDS 8 INT 4 FUM 2,482 YDS 64%

Winston (9 games played)
19 TDS 10 INT 3 FUM 2,349 YDS 60.2%

Jameis has only 133 less passing yards and 2 less TDs thrown and he's played one less game than Mariota. Nevermind that he has played better defensive lines with the offensive line woes of the Bucs. He's played the Broncos (with a healthy Talib btw), Rams, Cardinals, Bears, Raiders, and the Panthers. All but one of those teams is ranked in the top 10 by PFF. Jameis also outperformed him against the Raiders, the one opponent they have in common. The Bucs offense has also been decimated by the absence of many players. Tampa Bay was playing with it's 3rd and 4th string running back for half the season. Doug Martin experienced his first action last week since Week 2. Charles Sims, the second string RB hasn't played the last 4 games. The Bucs have had multiple injuries to starters on the Oline (Pamphile, Hawley, and Evan Smith). The Bucs also lost Vincent Jackson, Austin Sefarian Jenkins (to off the field issues), and Louis Murphy. They had to scramble to sign Cecil Shorts. The Bucs 2nd starting WR is Russell Shepard who missed last week because of injury btw.

I think he deserves it but w/ the comparison to Winston people do what they always do, ie conflate a qb's success with that of the teams, forgetting that Tennessee has one of the top 2 back combo's in the league as opposed to Tampa's horrendous O-line and overall bad squad.

Dude's been ballin out the past few weeks tho. Making some unreal throws got that team looking legit as of late. Sometimes i believe qbs get overhyped but in this case nah, dude been looking like old Aaron Rodgers. :yeshrug:

I brought this up in the other thread. Dude got one of the best running games in the league. Also has a freak and matchup nightmare at TE in Delanie Walker. Kaep used to beast with him.

Folk sleep on how much a great running game helps a QB.

Mariota looked like ass a few weeks back when he played the Colts. He was a big reason they lost that game.

Since then Titans beat Jags and Green Bay who are both trash. Green Bay is in full meltdown mode.

I want to see how he looks when the two week stretch against Denver and Kansas City comes up.

Mariota is proof that it's retarded to invest heavily in wide receivers and instead it's more important to build a strong oline. Meanwhile I'm sitting here watching Luck get hit before he can throw to all these 1st and 3rd round receivers.
