Does anyone else dislikes it when people complain about the current social media, cellphone age?

I don't like it when people complain about the fact that social media/cellphones exists.

You've heard people complain before that

"times where much better before social media"

"people are on there phone to much"

I feel like people take it for granted that a tool exists in our pockets

that allows us to visually communicate with any body in the world face to face in real time!

How dope is that?! Our ancestors would've loved to have something like that

A woman literally made people miss a green light the other day because she was taking a selfie in her car. Not to mention that so many people's self esteem is tied to how many likes they get.

There's a noticeable difference between when people did have their phones and when they didn't.

but my thing is the anti-phone, anti-social media people seemed to be very anti-social regardless imo

personally I like the fact that I can support someone's dream whether they be in NY or GA while I'm in Texas

particuarlly among black folk, the connection has it's pros and cons like most things

but I don't mind it. It's not like you actually have to use either or all the time anyway.

Most people use their phone as a form of entertainment and less than a tool.

VERY few people actually use the power in their phone for what is was designed for..

Yea, I dislike it. If someone has the urge to look at their phone instead of talking to me, I shouldn’t be around that person.

It’s a reflection of how hard media works for ppl’s attention vs everyday ppl who tend to be self centered.

Ppl want the power to command attention without acknowledging that that takes skill.

Phones are giving wack ppl a rude awakening.

I don't mind the"smartphone" era. Great and convenient tool when not abused by hackers, companies tying down their workers or as surveillance. Social media, however, I see as different. If I could ignore it, I would. I used to think, good, get to know what people think. But I will say that has turned from honesty to decorum issues with that honesty, as well as entitlement issues. Opinions are becoming like arranged marriages. Everyone is spooned the ability, so they don't have to really work on cultivating it or learning how to actually deal with it. Your opinion used to local and at the risk if immediate ass whooping, so that speech entitlement in modern times had grown careful as we diversified. Now people hiding again and can turn off dissenters. It takes away from the censure of having to be around others. Might as well be in the 50s again. V

Being connected in this digital age has had a lot of negative side-effects that were either not-anticipated or underestimated.
This isn't so much hating as it is a fact.

You can't put the genie back in the bottle, though, so we have to figure out a way forward.

But just because someone older, with more experience than you bashes something...that does not mean they are wrong.
Youth truly is wasted on the young.
